Five Fairy Highlights

The Fairy type is quickly becoming a staple in battle teams across the globe. We have highlighted a few of the Fairies below:

When Xerneas reaches the end of its life, it releases all of its life energy into all the living things around it, and transforms into a tree to sleep for 1,000 years

It wouldn’t be right to come up with a list of Fairy type Pokémon without discussing Xerneas, the legendary beast from Pokémon X. Xerneas has the highest attack base stat of all Fairy Pokémon making it a force to be reckoned with. Its signature move entitled Geomancy grants a 2+ boost to speed, special attack and special defense making it a fierce foe and great addition to a team.

It wraps its ribbon-like feelers around the arm of its beloved trainer and walks with him or her.

Sylveon, the eighth evolution of Evee, was the first Fairy type Pokémon to be announced. Be  forewarned however, the evolution process for Sylveon is extremely tedious. In order for your evee to evolve into a Sylveon, the trainer must make sure it knows a fairy move (Baby-doll eyes) and play with it for a decent amount of time in Pokémon Amie.  Don’t let its cuteness fool you, Sylveon is  a ferocious little thing. Its special attack comes in at a massive 110 and also is gifted in special defense making it a great tank on the battlefield.

The fur on its body naturally  repels water. It can stay dry, even when it plays in the water.

Water/Fairy  is arguably one of the best typings, making Marill a great addition to any team. This little cutie is resistant to fire, water and ice in addition to bug, fighting, dark and most importantly dragon. Marill’s evolution Azumarill has a natural attack power of 432 and with its new typing can now learn the move “Play Rough” which severely lowers its opponent’s attack.

It uses its docile-looking face to lull foes into complacency, then bites with its huge, relentless jaws.

Mawile is another great Pokémon that is fantastically typed. Its Steel/Fairy combination is great because it counters the Fairy type’s weakness to both Steel and Poison. One of the great things about Mawile  is that it is one of the few Pokémon that can mega-evolve. Mawile has the highest attack stat of any Pokémon, maximizing at 678 (105 base + Huge Power). It is weak to ground and fire which can easily be covered if you have Azumarill or another water Pokémon in your party.

To protect its trainer, it will expend all its psychic power to create a small black hole.

Gardevoir is another Fairy type that has a mega evolution and is typed as Psychic/Fairy. Its mega evolution has the highest base stat of all non legendary Psychic and Fairy Pokemon. It has the highest special attack stat of all mega evolved Pokémon.

Although these are just a few of the 34 fairy types, they were highlighted for good reason. Let us know in the comments below which fairy type is your favorite!
